Ọ̀kọ Alphabet

Ò̩kọ alphabet consists of 26 letters. These letters have been carefully worked out beginning with a phonological study of the spoken form. The principle and argument for the selection of these orthographic characters have been explained in an article first presented in 2002 to an intellectual audience of mainly linguists. The process has acknowledges earlier courageous attempts by individuals and groups to suggest an alphabet for the language. However a practicable orthography cannot be a product of mere impression or suggestion by people or just any linguist. It but must be scientifically defensible, evolved through a careful process by a descriptive linguist. The twenty six letters of Ò̩kọ alphabet below have been subjected to such rigor over several years of study.
