This section is designed to introduce the words (lexical items) that relate to the Ò̩kọ material culture. The focus is on the cultural items and practices that have been common to the Ogori people; and which have been passed down over generation
It is a kind of dictionary. However, rather than an alphabetical order of the words, a semantic (meaning-based) approach is adopted in the entry. The word taxonomy means a method of classification of reality. The principle of organising the materials is by the domains of experience. The expectation is that it will also serve as a reference resource.
A list of such domains of experience in Ò̩kọ include, amongst others, the following:
Taxonomy of Food
Taxonomy of Animals
Taxonomy of Farm
Taxonomy of Body parts
The domain of Greetings
The list of items in each domain, their English translation and the number of domains listed above are not exhaustive but will be updated with time.
